Honoring the memory of family & friends

Recognize your departed loved ones during Yizkor services.

Submit Names for Yom Kippur Yizkor Booklet

Each year at the Yom Kippur Yizkor service we honor the memory of deceased family members and friends. Office staff will prepare a Yizkor booklet that lists the names of departed loved ones being remembered by CBH congregants, as well as loved ones who passed away during the past year. The booklet will also contain passages and readings appropriate to the memorial service.

This book will be used again for Yizkor services in the balance of the year, for Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Pesach, and Shavuot. Our services are going to be hybrid. Therefore, we will produce both a print and an electronic booklet, which will be available from this page to download.

Each booklet listing includes the dates of the loved ones’ lives and their relationship to those remembering them, as in the following example:

Remembered by Abe and Sophie Katz:

Jacob Katz (1947–2009) — their son

                                     Ruth Goodman (1913–1989) — Sophie’s mother

                                     Julius Sachs (1917–1991) — Abe’s uncle

Joseph Stein (1937–2006) — their friend

The form for this year’s booklet will be open through Tuesday, September 5, 2023. It will be available for download before services and hard copies will be available on September 25th for the Yizkor service. Service for Yizkor will be held during Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Pesach, and Shavuot; dates will be announced in advance, and the booklet will be used for each observance. Please come to remember to help make a minyan, so others may be supported in their memories.
