High Holy Days Food Drive Stays Digital

Your donations to these groups will make a difference.

Deepening the meaning of the Yom Kippur fast

We have long valued our community’s active support of STEAC during the Holy Days. This has been a meaningful way for us to translate this sacred time of introspection and fasting into acts of tzedakah (righteous giving) that put food on the table for our community’s most needy.

We have learned that a far more effective way to make a difference is to donate dollars instead of cans. The organizations we support have a much greater purchasing power than we do. They can buy five times more with our one dollar than we can as consumers. So we invite you to continue to participate in this time-honored Bet Haverim tradition by donating what you would have spent on groceries to one or more of these wonderful organizations that are feeding the hungry

We welcome you and appreciate your participation. Gifts may be made to honor or remember, or as an expression of your personal reflections.

We ask that, if you’re comfortable, you anonymously give us information about how much you plan to donate, and to whom. We will not track your IP address or identifying information; we just want a sense of whether this is meaningful to our Partners, and approximately how much we’re helping. We thank you.

Honor the commandment

“When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap all the way to the edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. You shall not pick your vineyard bare, or gather fallen fruit of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger: I am the Lord your God”
