Tuesdays, April 27, May 4 and May 11 from 5 to 6 p.m.

As we prepare for the holiday of Shavuot, May 17th, celebrating the giving of the Torah, we will take a closer look at the Bible to better understand the teachings of our central Jewish text. Here’s just one example that we will explore: The Bible doesn’t say to love God “with all your heart and all your soul.” That’s a translation mistake, just one of many that continue to hide the original meaning of the Bible. We will delve into the true meaning of the 23rd psalm and some of the Ten Commandments, as well.

Dr. Joel M. Hoffman, who is as entertaining as he is educational and inspiring, focuses on bringing the Bible to life and is known for his “fresh insights and interpretations about religious life in the 21st century.” He holds a Ph.D. in linguistics and has served on the faculties of Brandeis University and Hebrew Union College.Dr. Hoffman looks it up
