Zoom In — How Israeli Media Shapes Public Opinion

Wednesday, March 27, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Like here in the US, Israelis consume a variety of media and news sources, often with vastly different perspectives and political leanings.  Using the prism of Israeli media and its coverage of current events, we will understand how the imaging, messaging, and circulation of different news sources influence Israeli public opinion and policy.  We will also ask how it’s related to the upcoming elections and how much it can influence the results.

The presentation will be given by Shimrit Braun Kamin, Associate Director of New Israel Fund in the Bay Area. She formerly worked in Israeli media, mainly on the news. Together we will break down what Israelis read and watch, and how it affects what different groups in Israeli society think about burning issues. Come to deepen your understanding of the Israeli political experience.

The New Israel Fund is the leading organization committed to equality and democracy for all Israelis. Widely credited with building Israeli progressive civil society, NIF has provided millions of dollars to more than 850 organizations since its inception in 1979.

This event is free and open to the public. Co-sponsored by J Street Davis.
Donations will be gratefully accepted to support CBH programming.
