The Jewish Museum is one of the world’s preeminent institutions devoted to exploring art and Jewish culture, from ancient to contemporary. It was founded in 1904 and is one of the oldest existing Jewish museums in the world. The Warburg family donated their family mansion in NYC and the collection was moved there in 1947. Mrs. Frieda Warburg said at the opening that the museum would not be a somber memorial, but rather a celebration of the Jewish faith and traditions
Today, the Jewish Museum presents a diverse schedule of internationally acclaimed exhibitions from antiquity to contemporary art reflecting global Jewish identity – painting, sculpture, works on paper, photography, installations, media, archaeological artifacts, antiquities, and ceremonial objects. Nearly 600 objects are on view now in the exhibition. Check out the Museum’s website. Scenes from the Collection.
Please join us on this virtual visit. We will be led by an experienced docent and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
