“Sing-a-Long History of Yiddish Song” Workshop and Concert, with Jeanette Lewicki

Sunday, February 4, 2018, 2:00 - 5:00 p.m., CBH Social Hall.

RSVP deadline is Thursday, February 1, 2018!  Please reply by completing the form below.  This program is open to the public; voluntary donations are welcome.

Take part in a musical afternoon with this Yiddish singer, accordionist and producer, known for her work with the San Francisco Klezmer Experience and the gonifs klezmer band.

Jeanette also has recorded with elders of Yiddish song, including Arkady Gendler of Bessarabia, Beyle Schaechter-Gottesman of the Bronx and Pesakh Fiszman of Buenos Aires.  A passion for underworld songs led Jeanette to YIVO NY where she helped digitize the entire Ruth Rubin collection, listening in real time to more than 900 unaccompanied Yiddish folk songs, stories, jokes, children's rhymes and street vendors' calls.

Learn more at Jeanette's website, madamlevitsky.com.  For additional information about this event, please contact the Bet Haverim office at 530-758-0842.
