Alex Erickson’s Mitzvah Project
On January 4, 2020 I will have my Bar Mitzvah. Within the Jewish tradition, the Bar Mitzvah symbolizes a child’s coming of age. As part of my Bar Mitzvah, I am doing a mitzvah project.
The inspiration for my project to support the Special Olympics comes from my love of swimming and sports. Team Davis is a non-profit organization established to help enrich the lives of children and adults with developmental, intellectual and/or physical disabilities living in or close to Davis, California. They sponsor athletic, social and recreational activities, one of which is swimming. For my mitzvah project I wanted to do something that is caring and kind to help these athletes. I came up with an idea of a swim-a-thon and seven of my swim teammates and I swam over 350 laps to help raise money for Team Davis.
My goal is to raise $1,000 for Special Olympic athletes.
Any size donation is appreciated. Please send money to either my mother’s Venmo account (@Melissa-Erickson-8) or PayPal account (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the subject – Mitzvah Project.
Thank you very much for your support.
