DRTY: Davis Reform Temple Youth

From Josh Sobel- DRTY Advisor.

A few short weeks ago DRTY youth participated in the Sunday morning Children’s services.  The Parasha of the week was Vaera. The main focus of the Drash (sermon) was the plagues and Moses speaking to pharaoh about G-d. DRTY decided instead of telling the story, that they would act it out. It was marvelous. The members all took a character and went with it. The only way to tell if a story is done well is the reaction of the crowd. The younger children were very entertained and enjoyed not only the Drash but the singing as well. It was truly a sight to see our youth teach and entertain the school community.

As I write this column I am in the process of preparation for the Casino Royale Cancer Benefit event. Your children have done it again and I am learning to see that they will continuously share their passion with CBH and the community at large for a very long time.

DNJJY: Davis' New Junior Jewish Youth

From Louis Sach- DNJJY Advisor.

Our night downtown Davis was a blast. We enjoyed frozen yogurt and then went to see a movie at the theater. The event was a lot of fun and a great opportunity for the 7th and 8th graders to interact.

Coming up on our Winter Calendar are more exciting events including a Shabbat Dinner at Hillel on March 6 (additional info will come by email so stay tuned).

Also in the very near future is DNNJY Annual Sleep Over. Last year over 25 teens participated and we had an amazing night. We watched movies, ate tons of snacks, did a group activity, and had a great breakfast in the morning. Everyone had fun during the entire event and I encourage all of our teens to come and bring their friends. There is additional staff at this event. Date and more details will be sent soon.

Please fill out your DNJJY membership forms and return them to the CBH office ASAP. If you can’t locate the forms, please contact the office and we’ll mail/email them to you. Teens will not be allowed to participate if their emergency forms are not on file. If you have any questions about events or the youth group please feel free to email me.
